Handz: a Chrome extension for Yad2

Handz is a free Chrome extension for Yad2 that shows the price history of real estate and car listings. Next to a listing’s price it adds a small marker that shows whether the price went up, went down or stayed the same. Click the marker to see every price Handz has recorded for the listing and how long ago Handz first saw it. It runs in Chrome on desktop, and no sign-up is needed.

Why it helps

A listing that has been up for six months and dropped its price three times tells a different story from one posted yesterday. On Yad2 itself, a listing’s history is hard to see. We built Handz while searching for an apartment ourselves, when we couldn’t tell which listings were new and which had been up for months.

If you’re looking for an apartment or a car, it helps you decide what to check first and what to know before you negotiate the price. For brokers and car dealers, it’s a quick way to see which listings in their area or segment dropped in price.

How to install

  1. Open the extension’s page on the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click “Add to Chrome” and confirm.
  3. Open a real estate or car search on Yad2. If Yad2 was already open, reload the page. The markers appear next to the prices.

Frequently asked questions

The Handz extension isn’t working. What should I do?

Make sure you’re using Chrome on a computer, not a phone, and that Handz is turned on in Chrome’s extensions page (chrome://extensions). The markers appear only on real estate for sale or rent and on cars, in search results and on listing pages. After installing, reload the Yad2 page: the extension only loads on pages opened after it was installed. If it still doesn’t work, write to us at [email protected].

How much does the Handz extension cost?

The Handz extension is free and needs no sign-up. The Handz alert service is separate and paid.

What information does the extension collect?

To build the price history, the extension sends Handz’s servers details from Yad2 listings, such as the price. On other websites it may collect public product information, such as name and price, for price comparison. The full details are in the privacy policy and the terms of service (both in Hebrew).

Want alerts on new listings?

The extension shows what happened to listings you’re already looking at. The Handz alert service sends real-time alerts on new listings that match your criteria, with plans for businesses and agencies too. Read more about our story on the About page.
